Legal Assistant
Location: Salt Lake City

Reports To: Human Resource Manager

Summary:  Jones Waldo is looking for an experienced legal assistant to support attorneys in our Litigation department. This position will be responsible for managing a caseload of 75-100 cases spanning a variety of legal fields, including (without limitation) general civil litigation, family law, and commercial litigation.  The legal assistant supports multiple attorneys with  calendaring/docketing, e filings, and maintaining and organizing pleadings and transactional files.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Track all active and potential new client matter including: track deadlines, assigned tasks, attorney/staff member assigned to each case and maintain client list.  
  • Open new case files, including: coordinate conflict of interest checks, tracking potential new clients and preparing case initiation documentation.
  • Maintain a structured tickling system and case management procedure. 
  • Schedule all appointments including all hearing dates, mediations, telephone conferences, and client meetings. 
  • Serves as a point of contact for the attorneys, clients and other personnel concerning the cases. 
  • Read, sort, date and appropriately route incoming mail as well as properly route outgoing mail and coordinate items to be delivered. 
  • Document and input attorney billable time as well as review, edit, and finalize all client invoices.    
  • Document preparation including bates stamping, redacting, hyper links and creating pleading files. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification:


  • Graduation from high school or its equivalent and a minimum of five years of experience as a legal assistant.
  • Experience with case management in family law and commercial litigation. Federal court experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of court procedures, legal documents, and court rules.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the organization, functions, responsibility and procedures of a law practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, and perform a high level of case management.
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel skills. Knowledge of formatting memos, letters, and using templates.

Summary:  Jones Waldo is accepting resumes for a part-time Support Services Associates.  This position provides Word processing services to multiply attorneys and staff.  Potential for full-time employment  is possible.

  • Provides back up for legal assistants
  • Ensures client and Firm confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent clerical skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Expert level skills in Microsoft Office
  • Legal cite formatting experience preferred
  • Prefer two years experience as a secretary or word processor
  • Prefer experience with E filing

Pay:

Starting at $17.00 per hour.  More depending on experience.
