Attorney Michael Shaw and his three teammates shot a 51 on a par 76 course Sept. 28, securing first place in a tournament marking the opening of the Southern Utah Legal Center in St. George.

 

Shaw joined with David Watson, Ryan Kramer and John Busby, all businessmen with varying levels of experience, and seemed to coalesce into a links powerhouse on the Sky Mountain golf course.

 

"It was an incredible experience just witnessing such amazing shots," Shaw said. "These guys can purposefully curve a ball around a tree, or keep it low enough to clear a branch, then raise up to clear another group of trees. Different balls can do different things, and for a merely occasional golfer, it was amazing.

 

The golfers had a great day and were proud to be supporting such a worthy cause. The tournament coincided with the grand opening of the legal center, a place where low-income or disadvantaged individuals will be able to access free legal services. The center is especially dedicated to helping domestic violence victims, immigrants, disabled persons and Native Americans who need help navigating the legal web.
