Jones Waldo understands that for promising law students the future can hold many possibilities. Our summer associate program is designed to give law students the opportunity to explore those possibilities in a professional, yet personal, setting.

Summer associates can customize their experience at Jones Waldo according to their individual goals and aptitudes. They receive opportunities to work with various associates and shareholders in a variety of departments. Among other responsibilities, summer associates research and draft pleadings, attend depositions, arbitrations and trials and draft corporate and real estate transactions. We want every summer associate to have day-to-day experiences that mirror those of Jones Waldo associates.

The summer associate experience also gives participants a taste of the social life of a Jones Waldo attorney. Past experiences have included baseball games, dinner parties, concerts at Red Butte Gardens, weekend trips to Snowbird and our annual Jones Waldo Summer Party.

Jones Waldo summer associates are talented and hard-working law students in their second or third year of law school. Applicants are hired based on a combination of their grades, writing ability, personality and life experiences.

Law students at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University are encouraged to apply through their respective law school's on-campus recruiting programs. We also welcome resumes and transcripts from out-of-state applicants.  In recent years, Jones Waldo summer associates have been hired from Arizona, BYU, Boalt Hall, Northwestern, Oregon, Stanford, Utah, Virginia, Wake Forest, Yale and the University of Chicago.
