“An attorney’s job is to solve the client’s problem as efficiently and effectively as possible.”

Ryan Harris is a member of Jones Waldo’s Litigation Department. He has experience in many areas of business and personal litigation, and has achieved excellent results for a variety of corporate and individual clients. Ryan spends much of his time in the area of appellate litigation, although he has also been actively involved in jury and bench trials, preliminary injunction proceedings, and motion practice at the trial level. He has successfully resolved a variety of cases for clients, including business litigation, contract disputes, environmental issues, construction disputes, employment litigation, personal injury matters, property disputes, and intellectual property litigation. He has also been involved in successful efforts to seek alternative dispute resolution for his clients, chiefly through non-binding mediation. Ryan is admitted to practice before Utah state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Utah, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He is a member of the Utah State Bar and the American Bar Association. He was included in Utah Business magazine’s Legal Elite listing for 2006-2010 in business litigation and was also named a "Mountain States Super Lawyers Rising Star" in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Ryan was born and raised in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Brigham Young University, magna cum laude, with university honors, in 1995. He then attended Stanford Law School, graduating with distinction in 1998. While at Stanford, Ryan served as Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Environmental Law Journal. Following graduation from law school, he served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Stephen H. Anderson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He joined Jones Waldo in 1999, and since then has volunteered to serve as a small claims judge pro tempore, as a member of the Leadership Committee of the "And Justice For All" charity campaign, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Utah State Bar’s Litigation Section. During 2006 and 2007, he served as the Chair of the Utah State Bar’s Litigation Section.  Ryan is proficient in German.
