“Law is an art as much as it is a science. Many problems stay unresolved simply because creative solutions are not explored or even conceived. I develop innovative approaches that generally bring more efficient results for my clients.”

Russell Mitchell has helped many clients form successful corporations, limited liability companies, and joint ventures. With a focus in the areas of Real Estate Law, Business Law and Estate Planning, as well as litigation in these areas, he is able to assist his clients in all aspects of their business planning and development, including efficient integration of business goals with personal estate planning. Russell works with commercial landlords in drafting and enforcing leases whether for retail sales or office space. As a trial attorney, his experience in litigation, including arbitration, with cases involving leases, construction contracts and liens, real estate and corporate sales agreements, partnership disputes, real property title and boundary disputes, non-compete agreements, and dissolving companies give him an advantage when he counsels clients who are about to invest in land, businesses, or enter contracts with other professionals.

Russell attended Dixie State College where he received his Associate in Science degree in 1982 before moving to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Utah in Medical Technology in 1985. He became the lab manager for Advanced Clinical Microbiology and Research, Inc. and was its Vice President from 1989 to 1994. He obtained his degree in law from the University of Utah in 1994 and was a William H. Leary Scholar.

Russell has consistently served the communities in which he has lived. In 1989 he was elected to a four-year term on the Woods Cross City Council. After relocating to St. George, he joined the Kiwanis club where he has served as President twice (2000-01; 2009-2010), as well as serving several terms on its Board of Directors. He has served as the chairman of the Community Action Committee of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce. He is presently on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Utah Chapter of the University of Utah Alumni Association. An Eagle Scout, Russell has been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America most of his life.

Russell’s life experiences in local politics and being an officer for a small business combined with his experience as an attorney has helped him develop a sense of not only what terms the courts will and will not enforce, but what is fair in the circumstances. He brings his various experiences in litigation, real estate development transactions, forming new LLC’s and small corporations, foreclosures, evictions, construction contracts, stock purchase agreements, buy/sell agreements, and estate planning together in ways that benefit the unique situations each client faces.
