Salt Lake City – August 31, 2004 – Jones Waldo Holbrook & McDonough, a 125-year-old law firm in Salt Lake City, has named Ron Poelman as chairman of the firm’s Business Law Department, a position he will hold for three years.
In this capacity, Poelman will oversee the day to day activities of the Business Law Department, which specializes in a variety of areas, including Agricultural Co-ops; Commercial Lending and Banking; Communications; Emerging Companies; Estates and Trusts; Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits; Franchise; General Counsel Services; Government Relations; Intellectual Property; Mergers and Acquisitions; Securities; Tax; and Technology.
Poelman is a partner at Jones Waldo and has over 20 years experience in counseling companies, both in Utah and in the Silicon Valley. He has been rated as one of the leading "Corporate/M&A" attorneys in Utah by Chambers USA.
His practice focuses on corporate, contractual, and securities work for both private and public companies, with an emphasis on technology companies. He is experienced in corporate organizations, stock compensation plans, venture capital and other private financings, technology licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. He is also experienced in all aspects of SEC compliance, including public offerings, on-going reporting, and corporate governance.
Born in Utah in 1953, Poelman was primarily raised in California. He later graduated from Brigham Young University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in English, followed by his graduation with a J.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1981.
